Local disabled man helped

A local Wantage man has had his fee paid by the 999 fund for a badly needed disabled toilet in his home. Although paid for by the Authorities, he still had to pay an initial fee and that's where the fund stepped in. On receiving the cheque, the recipient said "I would like to thank all those involved with this fund. The work has made such a difference to our lives and to have had the fee paid as well has made things so much easier!"

TV Wantage October Club

The Wantage 999 fund recently bought this local club a 42" TV for their common room. A meeting place for local alzheimer sufferers, a TV is an important focal point to their social gatherings

Wantage Maternity Unit

A significant sum was donated here, to help with the continuing work achieved by our local midwives.

Wantage and District nursing coronation memorial fund

Money was donated to this fund early in 2006

TV present

We surprised a local Ex-serviceman before Christmas 2006 by presenting him with a new Television and DVD player. His original having been broken for a while, he was facing the Christmas period alone and with no entertainment. Our thanks go to Ledburys of Wantage in their help in us achieving this.

Wantage Pre-School

Pre-School care is an important part of our local community and so is the education they provide our Children. In desperate need of IT equipment, we supplied the Pre-School with two complete computer packages with child size colourful desks included. These terminals are now used daily providing the important introduction to computers that all Children need. This couldn’t have been done without the kind help of both UKAEA Harwell and RM Computers.

Petrol help

With the support of Broadway Motors of Wantage, we helped the mother of a local Girl suffering from Leukemia. A petrol fund was set up to enable her to forget the worry of fuel costs from her daily trip to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Wantage Silver Band

The band are looking to raise funds to allow them to re-locate to a new premises. We have forwarded a lump sum to help them achieve their goal. We are fortunate that the Band have agreed to play at the entrance of the Xmas Ball to greet all ticket holders who arrive. Our thanks to them for making the events even more special.

The Hendreds’ C of E School target

This school has big plans with regard to its future. A large extension is the aim that will improve on their facilities a great deal. Future education of our Children affects us all and so we have donated a sum to start them on their quest.

Enhanced Senses

Financial help was donated to the Charlton Day Centre to help with their funding towards the building of a sensory garden. This garden will be enjoyed by many people for many years to come. Money also helped to fund the Christmas dinner, a big event in every calender year!
